YOUR CITY
In 2013, we founded the Arad Free Tours project, through which we offer free tours to tourists visiting Arad, on a volunteer basis. It was the first city outside of Romania's tourist poles to implement the concept of free tours at a local level.
The next step, which came naturally, was to expand the project – or rather adapt it – to Timișoara, located a few dozen kilometers away from Arad. After four years of activity in Timișoara, the project also expanded to Alba Iulia, another city with exceptional tourism potential.
Seeing that the Arad Free Tours model can be replicated both in cities with a large number of tourists and in cities that are not usually in the travelers' intentions, we decided to create a network of projects of this type. This led to the creation of the FreeTours.ro platform, which aims to be a national hub that brings together local initiatives and facilitates the replication of projects from the three cities in new ones. We want to reach a portfolio of 8 cities in the coming years – two of which are already in preparation. In the long term, our goal is to have identical projects in at least 15 cities.
