The free tours concept was implemented in Romania in the early 2010s, in the main tourist poles of the country. The first cities with such projects were, as expected, Bucharest and Bra\u0219ov. Cluj-Napoca followed, and in 2013, at the initiative of some young people passionate about history and their city, the Arad Free Tours project was launched.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The first step towards expansion for the Arad Free Tours \u2013 reunited a year later in the Alternative Tourism Association team \u2013 came naturally: implementing the same concept in Timisoara. After a few years of operation in the two cities, the team was joined by a young but experienced guide from Alba Iulia, thus laying the foundations for a network of free tour projects under the umbrella of the association.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

This led to the creation of the FreeTours.ro platform, which aims to be a national hub that brings together local initiatives and facilitates the replication of projects from the three cities in new ones. We want to reach a portfolio of 8 cities in the coming years \u2013 two of which are already in preparation. For logistical reasons, in the first phase we will focus mainly on the cities in Transylvania. In the long term, our goal is to have identical projects in at least 15 cities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition to the three cities in which we already operate, we are working on network expansion projects in Oradea and Cluj-Napoca, which we plan to launch in 2026. Until then, however, you can find us in the following cities:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

ORA\u0218E Conceptul de free tours a fost implementat \u00een Rom\u00e2nia la \u00eenceputul anilor 2010, \u00een principalele poluri turistice ale \u021b\u0103rii. Dup\u0103 c\u00e2\u021biva ani de func\u021bionare \u00een cele dou\u0103 ora\u0219e, echipei i s-a al\u0103turat un ghid t\u00e2n\u0103r, dar cu experien\u021b\u0103, din Alba Iulia, astfel c\u0103 s-au pus bazele unei re\u021bele de proiecte de free tours aflate sub umbrela asocia\u021biei. Asta a dus la crearea platformei FreeTours.ro, care se dore\u0219te a fi un hub na\u021bional care s\u0103 reuneasc\u0103 ini\u021biative locale \u0219i s\u0103 faciliteze replicarea proiectelor din cele trei ora\u0219e \u00een altele noi. Ne dorim ca \u00een urm\u0103torii ani s\u0103 ajungem la un portofoliu de 8 ora\u0219e \u2013 dou\u0103 fiind deja \u00een preg\u0103tire.
